On Thursday 24th October, commonspace together with local residents visited the landfill and waste management facilities in Fyli. The visit was organised as part of Fairville project activities in West Attica.

Employees of the Landfill and the Recycling and Composting Plant guided us through the waste disposal, burial, and management sites. With them we discussed the operation and technical factors of the waste management complex, as well as the challenges and the current saturation of the site’s capacity, which serves as the unique waste processing center for Athens and the greater Attica region.

Here you can see photos from our visit and the current revealing view of the landfill!

WEST ATTICA FAIRVILLE LAB continues its research and participatory activities to map environmental inequalities in West Attica.
