Discovering hidden treasures: A participatory workshop on the cultural tourism of Leros

Workshop for mapping the effects of the heat wave in the center of Athens

The event and the participation in the workshop are unfolding within the framework of the day of actions on the pedestrian street of Fokionos Negri for the PUBLIC with the general title:
What "audience" do we have in common?
Can we conceive of another city than the one we know so far, a city produced by its own inhabitants?
Starting with a wordplay around the Common, we will try to get to know better city projects and groups, ideas and practices, but also to imagine new ways of social fermentation and appropriation of public space.

Urban Trees - Chalandri
Participatory workshop / focus group
Wednesday July 7, 2021, 20:00 at the Papadaki sports center.
Initially there will be a participatory walk and then a participatory design workshop at the Papadaki sports center.
Trees are the most important element of urban greenery and their role is fundamental to the quality of life in the city and the physical and mental health of the inhabitants. Communal fake urban trees and especially those that grow on the pavement in addition to protecting pedestrians from the sun, rain and heat contribute, among other things, to stormwater management, energy saving, road safety, as well as dealing with of the effects of climate change. However, trees, being living organisms with often unpredictable growth and behavior, sometimes cause problems, especially when planted without prior study and planning.
The pilot application"Mock Urban Tree Lines and Participatory Planning"aims to initiate an organized debate, through a multidisciplinary approach, on the multifactorial issue of trees on sidewalks, with the participation of experts, authorities and active citizens.
With the help of the participatory LAB we will attempt to answer questions such as:
- Do we really want trees on the sidewalks?
- What specifications should a sidewalk have to accommodate trees? (eg width, paving material, planting depth).
- What specifications should a tree have to be suitable for planting on a sidewalk? (eg trunk diameter, maximum height, crown shape, deciduous-evergreen, etc.).
- Are changes needed at the institutional level? (e.g. legislation, urban planning, etc.).
Examining the area near Sarantaporou, Sofoklis Venizelou and Nicosia streets in Chalandri, Natassa Nikolaou (PEEGEP- Agriculturalist of the Municipality of Chalandri) with the support of the participatory LAB organize a participatory workshop / focus group.
